Vision, Mission, & Purpose
Vision
A zero-waste secondhand fashion system that centers community & climate.
Purpose
Our current fashion system is experiencing a textile waste crisis. Most unwanted clothing in the US becomes a part of the global secondhand clothing supply chain, ending up in landfills and piling up on beaches around the world. This is the ecological price of overconsumption and the shortened life-span of clothing produced under fast fashion cycles.
The Clothing Cycle empowers consumers to take ownership of their unwanted clothing. Through localizing clothing sorting, hosting clothing upcycling workshops, and responsibly redistributing unwanted clothing to local community groups, we keep clothing out of the global waste stream.
Mission
The Clothing Cycle keeps clothing out of the global waste stream by building a consumer community that takes on fashion without harming people, animals, or the planet. We circulate secondhand clothing through clothing swaps, upcycling workshops, and mutual aid distribution. The clothing in our shop is sourced from our clothing swap events and community donations.
The Clothing Cycle's shop includes curated secondhand, vintage, and one-of-a-kind upcycled clothing.
